The RIAA has announced that Paramore’s “Misery Business” has now sold six million certified copies. The song was the band’s breakout single and was certified gold for half a million sales less than a year after it was released, and it keeps selling.
That might not be a happy thing for Hayley Williams, who wrote in a blog in 2015 that “Misery Business is not a set of lyrics that I relate to as a 26-year-old woman,” pointing out that the song was written when she was 17.
The band removed the song from their live sets, but Williams did perform it as the special guest of Billie Eilish at Coachella earlier this year for the first time since 2018.
